UPDATE — 12 SEPTEMBER 2026
AVM/Actv says its autumn navigation timetable starts Monday 14 September 2026. Seasonal beach-oriented services are reduced, the timetables of several major lines change, and the late-night Line 11 Chioggia–Pellestrina trip becomes limited to specific nights.
If you are in Venice next week, this is a “check the new timetable before you walk to the pier” change rather than a shutdown of the lagoon network. Most services continue, but several familiar summer patterns disappear at once as ACTV moves into its autumn schedule.
THE SHORT VERSION
From Monday 14 September, lines 8 and 18 are suspended, the beach connection on 5.1/5.2 ends, the Line 2 extension from San Marco to Lido S.M.E. is suspended, and Line 14 stops serving Lido S. Nicolò. ACTV also revises the timetables of lines 1, 2, 2/, 7, 14, 15 and 17. Other navigation lines not listed in the notice keep their existing timetable.
01 · What changes on Monday 14 September
The autumn shift follows the closure of the beach establishments at the Lido. ACTV says Line 8 and Line 18 are suspended, together with the beach connection operated by lines 5.1 and 5.2.
The Line 2 extension from San Marco to Lido S.M.E. also stops for the season, while Line 14 no longer transits Lido S. Nicolò. These are seasonal network changes, not emergency disruptions, so they are intended to become the normal pattern for the autumn period.
02 · Seven major line timetables are revised
ACTV specifically tells passengers to use the newly published timetables for lines 1, 2, 2/, 7, 14, 15 and 17. That list includes several services visitors commonly use for the Grand Canal, Lido and lagoon connections.
The practical implication is simple: even if your line still runs, do not assume the departure you used last week remains unchanged. Re-check the official timetable or live information before planning a tight transfer.
03 · Line 11’s 00:45 Chioggia trip becomes limited
The late-night 00:45 departure from Chioggia, with the 01:10 return from Pellestrina, will operate only on nights between Saturday and Sunday, Sunday and Monday, and a public holiday and the following day.
This is a particularly useful detail for people travelling late between Chioggia and Pellestrina: the trip is no longer something to assume exists every night.
04 · One Line 1 school trip already started on 10 September
ACTV’s same notice also records a change that began on Thursday 10 September: a weekday school-day Line 1 departure from Lido S.M.E. “D” to S. Angelo at 07:27 has been activated.
That is mainly useful to local commuters and students, but it is part of the same seasonal transition and can affect the morning pattern at Lido.
05 · What visitors are most likely to notice
For most visitors, the biggest effects are around Lido and seasonal beach travel. If you planned to use a summer-only connection because it appeared in an older guide, screenshot or saved timetable, verify it again before setting out.
People using lines 1 or 2 also need to remember that “the line still exists” does not mean “the departure time is unchanged”. Venice trips often depend on a chain of boats, walking and timed admissions, so even a modest timetable revision can matter.
06 · A practical way to plan from 14 September
- Check the official timetable the same day: especially for lines 1, 2, 2/, 7, 14, 15 and 17.
- Delete old summer assumptions: lines 8 and 18 and the 5.1/5.2 beach connection are suspended.
- Watch Lido journeys: the Line 2 San Marco–Lido extension ends and Line 14 no longer serves Lido S. Nicolò.
- Protect late-night Chioggia plans: the 00:45 Line 11 trip now runs only on the specified weekend/holiday nights.
- Leave margin for connections: a revised departure can matter more than the nominal travel time.
07 · What stays unchanged
ACTV explicitly says the timetable of other navigation lines not mentioned in the notice remains unchanged. This is not a wholesale rewrite of every vaporetto service in Venice.
That distinction is useful: check the affected lines carefully, but there is no need to assume every lagoon route has changed simply because the autumn schedule has begun.
