Venezia FC–Lazio: Extra ACTV Boats & Bus Diversions for Saturday Night’s Match

This is useful even if you are not going to the football. The changes affect normal bus movements into Piazzale Roma between roughly 18:20 and 19:00 and add unusual evening boat traffic around Sant’Elena. If you have dinner, a train, a hotel transfer or another timed plan using those corridors, knowing the match window can save confusion.

01 · Five bus lines divert via Tronchetto before the match

ACTV says that from 18:20 until about 19:00, all Venice-bound runs on urban lines 2, 4L, 6, 6L and 7 will divert through Tronchetto before reaching Piazzale Roma. They will make a transit stop there.

For ordinary passengers, the important point is timing: this is a temporary match-night routing change, not a full cancellation. But if you normally expect one of those buses to follow its standard approach to Piazzale Roma during that 40-minute window, allow extra time and check the live ACTV information.

02 · A direct boat leaves Tronchetto for Sant’Elena at 19:00

On the water, ACTV is adding a direct 19:00 departure from Tronchetto Mercato to Sant’Elena. The operator also says reinforcement services are planned from Piazzale Roma and Lido SME to Sant’Elena.

That matters because Stadio Penzo sits on Sant’Elena at the eastern end of Venice. Moving part of the crowd by dedicated and reinforcement boats helps reduce pressure on normal services through the central network.

03 · Line 14 gets extra Sant’Elena stops before and after the game

Two Line 14 departures from Punta Sabbioni, at 19:00 and 19:30, will make an extraordinary stop at Sant’Elena “A” before the match.

Afterwards, the 23:00 Line 14 departure from S. Zaccaria Pietà toward Lido SME will also make an extraordinary stop at Sant’Elena “A”. That is a specific match-night addition, so do not assume it applies on an ordinary Saturday.

04 · The main post-match Tronchetto boat leaves Sant’Elena at 22:45

ACTV schedules a 22:45 departure from Sant’Elena to Tronchetto Mercato, with an expected arrival at 23:15. Additional reinforcement services are also planned from Sant’Elena toward Piazzale Roma and Ferrovia as supporters leave the stadium.

Match end times can drift because of stoppage time and other delays, so anyone relying on a specific onward connection should still leave margin rather than treating the football timetable as a railway clock.

05 · Match tickets and transport tickets are not the same thing on every service

ACTV makes an important distinction. Access to the general bus and navigation reinforcement services requires a valid public-transport ticket.

However, the dedicated navigation services for local and visiting supporters to and from Sant’Elena are available to people holding a match ticket at no additional cost. If you are going to the game, follow the operator’s match-night signage and staff instructions rather than assuming every extra service has the same fare rule.

06 · Organised visiting supporters have a separate PalaExpo link

For organised away supporters arriving by private coach or car and holding the relevant integrated match-and-transport ticket, ACTV lists a direct PalaExpo (Ferraris Brentelle) → Stadio Penzo connection at 18:30, arranged with public-security authorities.

This is a controlled supporter movement, not a general visitor shuttle. Ordinary travellers should use the public services relevant to their own journey rather than heading to PalaExpo because they have seen the connection mentioned online.

07 · What non-football travellers should do on Saturday evening

• Using lines 2, 4L, 6, 6L or 7 toward Venice around 18:20–19:00? Allow for the Tronchetto diversion.
• Travelling through Sant’Elena? Expect match crowds and additional navigation services around the stadium window.
• Connecting to a train? Reinforcements toward Ferrovia are useful, but do not plan a tight rail connection around the assumed final whistle.
• Going to the match? Buy any required transport ticket in advance where possible and use the added services rather than overloading normal routes.
• Not going near Sant’Elena? Most of Venice’s transport network is not being rewritten for the match; focus on the named lines and time windows.

08 · ACTV is explicitly asking passengers to buy tickets before travelling

The operator encourages customers to use the additional match services and to obtain the relevant transport ticket in advance. ACTV lists authorised retailers, self-service machines, Venezia Unica online sales, the AVM Venezia Official App, Chat&Go on WhatsApp, onboard purchase where permitted, and contactless bank-card or phone/watch payment as available purchase channels.

The practical takeaway is simple: a football crowd is a bad time to start working out payment at the last possible moment. If you need a normal transport ticket, sort it before you join the flow toward Sant’Elena.
